M.Ou.Co. is a musicians paradise offering a brand new music environment including three rehearsal rooms with musical instruments and technical equipment. Furthermore and somewhat unique, M.Ou.Co. also employs a physiotherapist specialising in Ergonomics exclusively at the venue just for musicians.

Flora Vezzá has dedicated herself to musician health for over a decade, both treating injuries and preventing problems from arising. A dedicated space within M.Ou.Co. the ‘Instrument Clinic’ has been created where Flora analyses and treats physical health, musical performance due to this physical health issue, explores possible trauma and creates a programme for continuous performance improvement. Flora has dedicated her life to this area having worked as a physiotherapist in the Santo André Symphony Orchestra in São Paulo and has participated in numerous conferences on Musician Health. She also wrote the book Afinar o Movimento [Tuning the Movement], where she approaches musical instrument teaching from the teachers’ point of view and discusses how to integrate health knowledge into instrumentalist training, proposing a jam session that brings together musicians and health professionals.

M.Ou.Co.’s venue is home to a concert hall, changing rooms, a cloak room, a bar and outdoor area all accessible on level -1 of this new space and all brand new. M.Ou.Co. work with local teams of professionals for all manner of production, editing and event hosting.

M.Ou.Co. is also home to a Music Library which is all about musical pleasure and that sensation and excitement of adding a vinyl to the turntable. Here, hotel guests will encounter a collection of 600 records which is growing. The catalogue has been curated by a number of artists with links to music and the city. M.Ou.Co. also work with Porto’s record shops to keep the collection busy with classics, discoveries and latest popular releases. The Music Library also features a wide selection of specialist music books celebrating music, songwriters, composers and performers.

Sofia Miró looks at 2022 with great enthusiasm and energy. Her early objective along with all her colleagues, was to create a space open to all and accessible in every way to both the local community and visitors. Tickets are priced from €10, many locals work at the venue and M.Ou.Co. fuses something for everyone with hospitality spaces including dining, accommodation and partying open to all. Every Saturday Sofia invites a different local DJ to host an evening in the M.Ou.Co. bar.

A former warehouse, M.Ou.Co. is today a contemporary space in Bonfim with many genuine vintage pieces of furniture. Following a meticulous redevelopment and investment of €8 million, the entire area of 5,000 square metres of building has been transformed into a welcoming, modern space, filled with light. The building features natural materials throughout including the exterior and no paint has been used.

M.Ou.Co. is reshaping a neighbourhood and adding a new rhythm to Portugal’s second largest city, Porto.
